What is a Deer Crown?

Many people do not realize how unique each deer crown is. No two deer crowns are ever the same. A deer crown is not merely a slice of horn; there is only one crown per horn. The crown, sometimes called the "butt" of the horn, is formed where the horn attaches to the deer's head. Around the oval of the horn bone there is a type of "flower," or crown, that gives each of these peices a fascinating natural decoration.

When a deer sheds its horns, the horns can be collected and the crowns removed to be turned into these beautiful, truly one-of-a-kind closures. Pope's Fine Leather Goods has gone to great lengths to ensure that each deer crown used is of the highest quality. The white oval of bone on each crown is ground down, sanded, and polished to a high sheen, resulting in a beautiful centerpiece for your cell phone, folding knife, or multi-tool case.
